Hazards

High temp risks

This project had two aims: a) to identify the impact of heat on the railway infrastructure and directly address an evidence gap identified by Network Rail, and b) to investigate the potential of an alternative method for heat-risk management that would improve the efficiency of the railway network on hot days. High temperatures can cause many problems for the railway infrastructure. Without adaption, these problems are set to increase in a future warmer climate.
