Hazards

Coastal Flooding, Multi-hazard combinations, Sea level rise, Storms and gales wind

The aim of this innovation project is to develop an effective tool to quantify the influence of wind on wave overtopping of sea defences. The project extended an existing two-fluid model to quantify wind effects, validate this with physical modelling tests and subsequently develop an assessment tool and database. This will better inform allowances made for overtopping than the safety margins adopted nowadays.
